Tech stack
Bun, Hono (server-side rendering with hono/jsx), Cloudflare Workers with a D1 database, Vite, Tailwind CSS v4, MapLibre GL JS, Biome and Vitest. Pages are fully server-rendered; small scripts add search, sorting, maps and the comparison list on top, so everything stays readable without JavaScript. Data is fetched by build scripts, compiled into D1, and served read-only.
Motivation
Country statistics are easy to find but hard to cite: numbers float around the web detached from their source and year. Atlas keeps every figure attached to where it came from, so a quick lookup can become a proper citation. It is also the first app built end-to-end with a reusable web-app template, and serves as its working proof.
Colophon
Atlas runs on Cloudflare Workers + D1, server-side rendered with Hono. Statistics are yearly figures refreshed from the sources every few months; each value carries the year it refers to. Base map tiles by OpenFreeMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors.
